Understanding the light

Light is described by its wavelength, measured in nanometres (nm). Different wavelengths look and behave differently. Here’s a plain-English guide to the light used across our collection.

Blue light

≈ 430–480 nm

Short-wavelength visible light. It is absorbed closer to the surface than longer wavelengths.

H-MAX (430 nm) · Elite Series (480 nm) · Infuser (460 nm)

Red light

≈ 620–700 nm

Visible red light, the band most often associated with at-home light devices.

H-MAX (630 nm) · Elite Series (630, 660 nm) · Infuser (630 nm)

Near-infrared light

≈ 780–1,100 nm

Invisible to the eye, with longer wavelengths than visible red light. Many people feel it as gentle warmth.

H-MAX (850 nm) · Elite Series (810–1,060 nm)

Laser light

650 nm in H-MAX

Laser diodes produce a narrow, directional beam, unlike the wider spread of an LED. Laser products carry a safety classification.

H-MAX (100 laser diodes)

Multi-spectrum LEDs

Combined wavelengths

Devices can combine several LED wavelengths, or mix colours to create new ones, such as the Infuser’s cyan, purple and white modes.

H-MAX Hair Therapy Cap

Four wavelengths, working side by side

Each wavelength has different optical characteristics. H-MAX brings four of them together in one cap so that the whole scalp area is covered during a single session.

Red Light Panel Elite

Nine wavelengths, from visible to near-infrared

The Elite Series combines four visible wavelengths with five near-infrared wavelengths. Use all nine together, or choose the RED or NIR group on its own.

Thermal Serum Infuser

Seven light modes from three LED colours

The infuser uses red (630 nm), blue (460 nm) and green (520 nm) LEDs. Run one colour on its own, or combine them to create cyan, yellow, purple and white light.

Red Light + EMS Scalp Comb

One red wavelength

The comb uses a single red wavelength, 660 nm, alongside its EMS and massage functions.

We describe how each type of light behaves physically. We don’t make medical or treatment claims, and we’ll only add evidence-based information once it has been reviewed for the UK.
